Latter-Day Saints Temple

La Jolla, CA

The San Diego Mormon Temple is one of only 150 Temples worldwide serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The 60,000 square foot Temple sits on a lushly landscaped, eight-acre site and is a distinctive landmark for San Diego, having received several awards. The two towers, which anchor the composition, rise 190 feet, with the east tower topped with a statue of the Angel Moroni. The interior is sculpted with geometric ceiling patterns highlighted by natural light streaming through patterned glass windows. Hyndman & Hyndman became the project architects and were subsequently hired for the interior design of the Temple after partners Dennis and Shelly Hyndman worked on the project with LDS lead designer William S. Lewis at Deems Lewis & Partners.
