St. Frances Xavier

El Paso, TX

This project was for a new Catholic worship space for the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini parish. The parish desired a sanctuary that would be reminiscent of mission style churches while complementing the existing contemporary worship hall on the site. An octagonal form accented by a trellis like ceiling structure frames the worship setting. An art glass window central to the main axis linking the altar, the crucifix, and the baptismal font serves to lift the space and fill it with sacred mystery.

Rock walls indigenous to the El Paso surrounding community were used on the project site to complement and blend with the environment. Hyndman & Hyndman provided architectural and interior design services including the liturgical furnishings designs.
