St. Mark

Newport Beach, CA

A Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, California, this campus design includes a Nature Center, Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, Preschool and Administration Building on a 12-acre site. The project is designed to maintain the natural canyon environment and to focus the views of the new buildings onto the canyon. The project site is located at the intersection of San Joaquin Hills Road and MacArthur Boulevard, requiring approval from the Irvine Company who maintained strict design regulations for the site.

Additional site features further highlighted careful attention to the surrounding environment, including the utilization of cross-breeze, and a strong connection to the canyon setting through interconnecting plazas. This project was awarded the Certified Bronze Audubon International Signature Sanctuary Award from the Audubon International Signature Sanctuary Program coining the project as “America’s Greenest Church”.
